Sustainable Fishing Practices

Typically 16–24 inches (Catch-and-release only on Lil Shab & Tessup)

A favorite among anglers, walleye are known for their sharp eyesight and elusive nature. Whether you're jigging along rocky points or trolling through deeper waters, these fish provide steady action and an unbeatable shore lunch.

Catch & Release Best Practices

  • Use barbless hooks or flatten barbs with pliers to minimize injury.
  • Set the hook quickly to prevent deep hooking.
  • Keep fish in the water whenever possible—if handling is needed, hold just behind the gill covers.
  • Use needle-nose pliers for quick, safe hook removal.
  • Revive tired fish by moving them gently back and forth in the water before release.
  • Face the sun so shadows don’t hide details.
  • Tilt your hat up slightly so your face is visible.
  • Hold the fish horizontally, with one hand under the head and the other supporting the tail.
  • Have the camera ready before lifting the fish out of the water to minimize stress.

Make sure your best catches look as good in photos as they do in person:
